Senggigi, Lombok
When we landed at Senggigi by boat, the mid-afternoon sun was so hot that it was hard to walk barefoot on the white sand without scorching the bottoms of our feet. I LOVE the heat, though, and would gladly take any degree of it over freezing my toes off any day!
Senggigi was meant to be a quick stopover on our way to the Gili Islands but it turned out to be a very interesting spot once we went away from the beach resorts. We wandered into a neighbourhood where someone's little goats grazed freely along the road. We also discovered a quiet mosque, a family invited us to have a snack with them in their front yard, and a teenager proudly gave us a tour of her garden - all in one evening.
